LECTURES

Week1:
In the first class, the teacher introduced us to PhotoShop and how to use this software. And the teacher showed us some creative pictures and posters made with Photoshop, which required us to download Photoshop after class.

Week2:
During this week's study, we began to understand and learn Adobe Photoshop, and learned from the teacher to cut pictures and stitch them together. At the same time, we also learned how to use shortcut keys to make it more convenient to use.

Week3:
Mr.Martin showed us how to use Photoshop to place Superman in a photo and add shadows to Superman, and how to process the saturation and color of the picture to make it blend better with the scene.

Week4:
In this week’s study, Mr.Martin taught us how to use Photoshop to color a black and white photo to turn it into a color photo. We also learned how to create a clipping mask.

4.List down your 3 favourite graphic design works done by Photoshop from Pinterest.
Explain why you like the designs?

Creative Picture 1:What attracted me to this image was the collage of interesting images. This picture shows the whimsical thoughts in a woman's mind. Although it is put together with many different pictures, the overall tone is very unified.

Creative Picture2:This picture shows a memory scene in a person's head. I think the overall feeling is very shocking. The overall tone is very harmonious.

Creative Picture3 :This image feels like a fluid reflection to me, and the overall feel and tone are very unified. This picture makes me feel very special.

Week2:Introduction to photoshop
Introduction to Photoshop toolbox
tool box

Photoshop provides several toolsets in the toolbox, and we can extend the toolset to display other tools. And we can make full use of its tools to help us design. And Mr. Martin introduced the use of Photoshop tools such as the lasso tool, pen tool, and layering.

·Introduction to Photoshop Lasso Tool
The Lasso Tool in Photoshop allows you to draw and pinpoint specific areas of a document
It offers three different tool options: Lasso, Polygonal Lasso, and Magnetic Lasso

·How to Use the Lasso Tool
The Lasso Tool is great to use with a graphic tablet because it is similar to a pencil
It is useful for drawing and making selections, offering a better flow compared to a mouse or trackpad

·Introduction to Photoshop Pen Tool
The Pen Tool is a common option for creating paths from scratch in Photoshop
The way you add and drag the tool determines the appearance of the points and paths

·How to use Layers in Photoshop
Layers in Photoshop allow for non-destructive editing and stacking different images
Adjustments in Photoshop will never destroy the original image when using layers

LECTURES

Week3:
This week we've looked at quick selection tools, layer masks, filters, and color correction.

Next is my class practice:

Artwork 1 : Girl with coffee steam
                                                                       Fig3.1 week3
I copied and pasted the smoke photo onto the girl's photo (new layer), used a blending mode on the smoke, removed the black parts of it, and copied it onto the image of the girl holding the cup. Created a new adjustment layer to increase the contrast of the photo.

Artwork 2 : Birds at sunset
Fig3.2 week3
I used the Lasso Tool to cut out the birds from the background, added adjustment layers to change the contrast and applied a blend and linear gradient effect..

Artwork 3 : Girl with contrast
Fig3.3 week3

I created a duplicate layer of the original background to alter the contrast and also a new adjustment layer.

Week4:Digital Imaging exercise
This week the teacher teaches us how to fill in color in black and white photos.
We first need to select the skin tone with the Marquee Tool and copy the selected area. Use the shortcut keys taught by our teacher: Marquee Tool: M, Copy: CMD+C. Paste the selection into the black and white portrait and rename the newly created layer Skin Tone
Select the Eyedropper Tool and change the sample size to: 5 x 5 AVERAGE
Use the EYEDROPPER to pick up the highlights and paint over them using the BRUSH TOOL (size: 30, hardness: 100%). repeat
Handling of MIDTONE and SHADOW. Use the Quick Selection Tool to roughly select the hair, and refine the selection in Select and Mask.
Select the Overlay and Refine Edge Brush Tools. Brushing the edges can make the filled image more detailed
Create a new solid color layer and use the color picker to select the hair color.
Drag the hair layer mask onto the new solid layer to replace the layer mask.
Select Soft Light (Blending Mode)
Repeat the process for Face, Layer Mask: Quick Selection Tool to make a rough selection, then Fine Mask
Select and block modes.

PROJECT 1 - DIGITAL COLLAGE
After learning the tools in Photoshop, Mr.Martin hopes that we can try to create our own digital stickers using the pictures given.

First takes on the design :
After Mr.Martin saw my digital sticker, he thought it was not a very good sticker. I just connected the pictures together without a good composition. Moreover, he also showed me a good mathematical picture. What does the sticker look like? So, I improved this.

Final product:

PROJECT 2—Superman in the Palace
We use the brush tool to cut out Superman and add it to the palace screen.
Drag and drop the SHAZAM to the Hearst Tower.
Adjust the size and reposition the SHAZAM.
Use the diffusion function in the layer
Adjust the color correction: Match Color (Image → Adjustments).

We create Shazam's reflection by creating a new layer.
Shortcut key: Polygonal Lasso Tool
Duplicate SHAZAM's layer
Rename the layer to Reflection

This week's assignment is for us to take a full-body photo of ourselves and put our photos into the picture according to what we learned in class.
